The past, present, and future of entwine
Entwine is a relatively short-lived nonprofit so far. However, in that short time, we have already accomplished a lot, and will continue to work towards our mission in the future as well. Below is a short timeline of the progress we've made towards making a greater impact for nonprofits across the state.
2023
December
Last December, we started envisioning the creation of a nonprofit. We were already good friends and wanted to do a project bigger than what we did in school. Over winter break, we all started brainstorming ideas for project ideas that we could pursue. Ultimately, one stuck: helping other nonprofits connect. This is a unique idea that we felt hadn't really been adequately addressed. We started talking about the fundamentals of nonprofits: setting up a board, articles of incorporations, bylaws, etc.

February
In February, we filed the articles of incorporation, establishing Entwine as a legal entity. This allowed us to act as a nonprofit. We quickly ratified bylaws and got to work on planning how we would operate. We decided to name our nonprofit "Entwine" because we were bringing nonprofits together.
2024
March - May
In March, we started doing research into potential organizations we could contact. We used an IRS master sheet and did individual research into different nonprofits we would end up contacting. Later on, we transitioned to using other methods of researching nonprofits. Also, during this time, we started envisioning our platform. Our platform is a planned app and website that nonprofits can use to directly find similar nonprofits, communicate, and set up events with them. Our developers also started working on creating the platform. We expect this to be completed by September 2025.
2024
July - August
In July and August, we continued researching and started contacting organizations. We connected with two small organizations in the area, CourtQuest and ReachNTeach. Additionally, we created social media accounts for Entwine, and started posting things in order to get a larger presence.
2024
September
In September, we created our first official website for entwine using Wix (this one). More importantly, we applied for and official received 501c3 status for Entwine. This gives us much more access to things that nonprofits traditionally receive, setting the stage for us to have a larger impact on our community.
2024
December
In November, we laid the foundation for the potential formation of our first official partnership, between two refugee-tutoring organizations in the Piedmont area. The names of the two organizations are Refugee Community Partnership and ReachNTeach. We aim to connect the tutoring expertise of ReachNTeach with the Bridge Builders program of RCP, helping more refugee children to be tutored in the area.
